What happens, if you drink a glass of Heavy water ? 🧐🧐

A refreshing glass of cold water.   If you think I'm talking about H2O , then you're right. But our thinking is if we could be sipping on heavy water or Deuterium Oxide (D2O)   then what happened? First of all, it's super expensive, and we have to buy it from the lab. Deuterium is a form of hydrogen or isotope, with an extra neutron, which makes it twice as heavy as regular hydrogen. That's why when there's Deuterium in water molecules.   it's about 10% heavier and we call it " Heavy Water ". In small amounts, heavy water is fine. In fact, in combination with an oxygen isotope, it's used in lots of nutrition experiments in humans because it's a useful way to track how much energy we're spending. But, too much will almost kill us. If we push Deuterium oxide in rats,   they will die.   In fact, plants will stop growing. The toxicity is related to what's called the KINETIC ISOTOPE effect. In the incident of heavy water...

International internship program for undergraduate in Japan

How are all of you? hope you all are well. Today, I'm going to discuss the international internship program abroad for undergraduate students (1st year to 4th year). Specifically, I will talk about the internship program in Japan. Most of the student does not know about this program. generally, they think the study abroad only for Masters, Ph.D., and Post-doc. but they don't know it’s possible to pursue a fully-funded internship and a research program as well. Do you know Japanese universities offer lots of internship positions for undergraduate students all over the world? So let's get started- . There are lots of international internship programs in Japan. But I will focus a few prestigious internship programs. . Q. Why will you participate in the internship program? Well. There is a lot of reason. Here only a few given below. . Developing skills (Leadership skill, teamwork) Gathering new knowledge Global experience and network Important for future research. Making CV str...

THE hardest substance in our body: TOOTH ENAMEL

Do you know that your mouth is the site of some very cool chemistry? And that it’s home to the hardest substance in your body? Let’s know something. The crown of a mature tooth is composed of two unique layers. The outermost layer is the enamel. It is the hardest and most highly mineralized substance in the human body. It is even harder than bone. But it is tissue and not a bone. This tissue has high mineral content which makes it the hardest substance. Enamel is mainly made up of approximately 96% crystalline form of calcium phosphate known as Hydroxyapatite ( Ca₁₀(PO₄)₆(OH)₂)  and the other 4% is water & organic material particularly enamel-specific proteins called enamelins. That crystalline calcium phosphate is not pure crystal, because this inorganic material substituted with carbonate ions( CO 3^ 2- ) and contain trace minerals such as strontium, magnesium, lead & fluoride. The second layer underlying the rigid enamel is tougher mineralized protein-rich tissue known a...

Normal egg vs rotten egg, sinks or floats! Is it just because of density ? or something else? 🤔🤔🤔

Do you ever think that an egg is not floating in the water but a rotten egg is floating!! How impressive! It's all about density.  When the density is high, then it sinks but when the density is running low, it floats. Well, let's take a clear concept about this.   When we enter an egg into the water, it sinks. Because the density of the water molecule is smaller than the density of an egg. But,  when the egg has begun to rotten.  It produces Hydrogen Sulfide(H2S) gas. Melting Point : -82*C   Molar Mass : 34.08 gm/mol-1 The mean density of the rotten egg is smaller than the density of the water molecule, because of producing H2S gas.  Then H2S gas will create an upright pressure which is called one type of buoyancy. Thus the density of a rotten egg has become smaller than the water molecule and it floats. But, if you mix some salt ( NaCl) into the water, then the density of the water molecule will become raise. After that, a normal egg can be fl...
